Age, Biography and Wiki

Curt Flood was an American professional baseball player who played for the St. Louis Cardinals, Philadelphia Phillies, and Washington Senators. He was an All-Star center fielder for the Cardinals from 1958 to 1969. He is best known for his legal challenge to Major League Baseball's reserve clause, which he argued was an illegal restraint of trade. Flood was born in Houston, Texas, and attended McClymonds High School in Oakland, California. He was signed by the Cardinals in 1956 and made his major league debut in 1958. He was an All-Star in 1964 and 1965, and won seven consecutive Gold Glove Awards from 1963 to 1969. In 1969, Flood was traded to the Philadelphia Phillies, and he refused to report, citing the reserve clause as an illegal restraint of trade. He sued Major League Baseball, and the case went all the way to the Supreme Court, which ruled against him in 1972. Flood retired from baseball in 1971 and went on to become an advocate for civil rights and social justice. He was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1997.
