Cindy Birdsong is an American singer and songwriter best known as a member of the Motown girl group The Supremes. She joined the group in 1967, replacing Florence Ballard, and remained with them until 1972. She has also released solo albums and collaborated with other artists. Birdsong was born in Mount Holly, New Jersey, and grew up in Philadelphia. She began singing in church and school choirs as a child. She was a member of the Philadelphia-based girl group The Del-Capris, who released several singles in the late 1950s and early 1960s. In 1967, Birdsong was invited to join The Supremes, replacing Florence Ballard. She was with the group for five years, during which time they released several hit singles, including "Love Child" and "Someday We'll Be Together". In 1972, Birdsong left The Supremes and was replaced by Jean Terrell. She then embarked on a solo career, releasing her debut album, Cindy Birdsong, in 1974. She also collaborated with other artists, including The Four Tops, The Temptations, and The Spinners. Birdsong is now retired from the music industry and lives in Philadelphia. She is 82 years old.
