After an aggressively unimpressive youth, which did not include a cap and gown ceremony, Cheri joined the US Coast Guard. There she performed the duties of Search and Rescue and Law Enforcement and lived the motto, "If it moves, grease it. If it doesn't move, paint it. " After her honorable discharge from the military - she moved to Hollywood to indulge in all thing Rock and Roll. See also: Waitress and Bartender. Though her band never made it big, they opened for everyone who did: T. S. O. L. , Guns and Roses, L7, LA Guns, Jane's Addiction, X, Hole, Descendant's, ad nauseam. She also wrote for the local magazine LA Rock Review. Then, sadly, the time came to put away the guitar. Cheri moved to Santa Cruz to get serious about her writing, and to keep herself in notebooks and number 2 pencils because she does it old school, she opened a tattoo studio. It was her visit with psychic Sylvia Brown that put her on the correct writing track, she wrote the semi-autobiographical play Prey for Rock and Roll, which was produced by FatChance Productions in NYC and ran at the legendary punk club CBGB with Cheri in the lead role of Jacki, and the play was then optioned for film rights. The movie starred Gina Gershon, Drea DeMatteo, Lori Petty, Shelly Cole, Marc Blucas and Ivan Martin. The soundtrack was produced by Stephen Trask of Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Prey for Rock and Roll had its world premier at the Sundance Film Festival 2003, and went on to play major festivals all over the world.
