Brian Bennett is an English composer, arranger, and musician. He is best known for his work with the Shadows, the instrumental group led by Hank Marvin. He has also composed music for films, television, and commercials. Bennett was born in London in 1940. He began playing the piano at the age of four and was soon playing in local dance bands. At the age of sixteen, he joined the Shadows, and he remained with the group until their break-up in 1968. Bennett has composed music for films such as The Italian Job, The Long Good Friday, and The Eagle Has Landed. He has also composed music for television series such as The Professionals, The Sweeney, and Minder. He has also composed music for commercials, including the famous "I'm Free" jingle for the British Telecom campaign. Bennett has released several solo albums, including the instrumental album Guitar Man in 1975. He has also released several albums with the Brian Bennett Band, which he formed in the late 1970s. Bennett has been awarded an Ivor Novello Award for his work with the Shadows. He was also awarded an MBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours List in 2004.
