Bob Thiele was an American music producer, composer, and songwriter. He was best known for his work with jazz musicians such as Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, and Count Basie. He also wrote the theme song for the television show "The Odd Couple." Thiele was born in Brooklyn, New York, and began his career as a jazz musician. He played the saxophone and clarinet and was a member of the big band of the legendary jazz musician, Louis Armstrong. He also worked as a music arranger and producer for Armstrong's recordings. In the 1950s, Thiele moved into producing and composing for television and film. He wrote the theme song for the television show "The Odd Couple" and composed the music for the film "The Pawnbroker." He also wrote the theme song for the television show "The Mod Squad." Thiele was also a successful record producer. He produced albums for jazz musicians such as Duke Ellington, Count Basie, and Ella Fitzgerald. He also produced albums for pop and rock musicians such as Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, and The Band. Thiele died in 1996 at the age of 73. He was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2000.
