Becky Albertalli is an American author best known for her debut novel, Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda, which was adapted into the 2018 film Love, Simon. She has also written the novels The Upside of Unrequited, Leah on the Offbeat, and What If It's Us, as well as the picture book Yes No Maybe So. Albertalli was born on November 17, 1982 in Atlanta, Georgia. She attended the University of Pennsylvania, where she earned a bachelor's degree in psychology and a master's degree in social work. She worked as a therapist for several years before becoming a full-time writer. Albertalli's debut novel, Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda, was published in 2015 and was a New York Times bestseller. It was adapted into the 2018 film Love, Simon, which was a critical and commercial success. Her other novels include The Upside of Unrequited (2017), Leah on the Offbeat (2018), and What If It's Us (2018). She has also written the picture book Yes No Maybe So (2020). Albertalli has won numerous awards for her work, including the William C. Morris Award, the Lambda Literary Award, and the Stonewall Book Award. She currently lives in Atlanta, Georgia with her husband and two children.
