In 2014 Shahmiri won the Parvin literary award, which is an Iranian state-financed award, for "Research compilation: theory and critique of post-colonialism".

2012

During the 12th international university theatre festival, Shahmiri won the award for the best play text for "Black skin, White masks".

2009

Since 2009, Shahmiri has created several theatre productions such as Blind Track of Stars (2009), As You Like it (2011), Murder in Scriptorium (2011), Damascus (2013), Not to Be (2016) and Voicelessness. Among her works, Voicelessness has been performed in various festivals in different countries such as Brussels, Edinburgh, Geneva, Kerala, Vienna and Zurich. In 2017, Voicelessness was performed in the theatre section of the Edinburgh international. In the same year, Voicelessness went on the stage in the old Brigittines Chapel of Brussels during Kunstenfestivaldesarts. Voicelessness was nominated for ZKB Patronage Prize at Zuercher Theater Spektakel. In Voicelessness, Shahmiri's internationally recognised play, she talks about an imaginary future by telling a story about Iran in 2070. The story is about a young woman who hopelessly tries to find out the truth about the disappearance of her grandfather. The script of voicelessness is the result of a collaboration between Azade Shahmiri and Soheil Amirsharifi.
