Anoop Menon

Beautiful (2011), was Anoop Menon's debut work as a lyricist. Menon says his debut as a lyricist was quite accidental. "On the second day of the shooting of Beautiful, music director Rateesh Vega, actor Jayasurya, and I were chilling out in Rateesh's car, when he asked me to pen some lines to try out a tune he'd composed for the film. The result is Mazhaneer Thullikal...," says the actor.

Menon won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Supporting Actor and also the Filmfare Award for his performance as the fictional movie star Ajayachandran in Thirakkatha. He wrote the screenplay and dialogue for films such as Pakal Nakshatrangal (2008), Cocktail (2010), Beautiful (2011), Trivandrum Lodge (2012), and Hotel California (2013). Actress Shweta Menon is his cousin.

He was born on 3 August 1976 to P. Gangadharan Nair and Indira Menon in Kozhikode. He grew up in Thiruvananthapuram. He is a law graduate from Government Law College, Thiruvananthapuram (1994-1999) and was the first-rank holder from Kerala University. During this period, he used to do compèring for Kairali TV and Surya TV. Anoop married Shema Alexander on 27 December 2014. This is Shema's second marriage. Her first husband died of heart attack in 2006. She has an adopted daughter born in 1998.
